Asgeir Sigurðsson ehf was established in 1895 and soon instituted business relations with the predecessors of todays Unilever and ICI. These partnerships have lasted for over 100 years. Mr. Sigurðsson who was educated in Scotland, was among the first Icelanders to import and distribute industrial and consumer products from sources other than Denmark. He also introduced the concept of cash transactions to Iceland instead of the barter systems which had existed for centuries.
Today the company is run in 3 divisions, with approximately equal share of company turnover.
The company is interested in long term commitment to brands and principals. It is not eager to chase "one-off" business and remains loyal both to suppliers and local customers.
